Mr. Meir has been in the commodities business for more than 35 years in a variety of roles. After getting his BA in Economics from McGill University and his M.B.A from NYU, Mr. Meir started his career as a research analyst with Drexel Burnham on Wall Street. He was poached by a Drexel client — Trans World Metals — to trade aluminum, tin and steel and after a nine-year stint there, he formed his own company as a physical metals broker and commodity research consultant. In 2003, he became MF Global’s base metals and energy consultant before moving his research services in 2011 to INTL FCStone. This past October, he moved to LME broker ED&F Man Capital. Fastmarkets ranked Mr. Meir as the #1 overall base metals analyst in terms of forecast accuracy in four of the last eight years.
